Belleville Chamber of Commerce was chartered in 1935

Belleville Main Street Program was designated in 2002.

Belleville Chamber & Main Street was formed in 2012
when the two organizations combined into one.

Belleville Chamber & Main Street is a non-profit volunteer based organization.

Mission Statement
Belleville Chamber & Main Street works to strengthen our local economy, promote community pride, and bring people downtown to shop, eat, and connect. Our focus is on improving the appearance and vitality of Belleville’s core through beautification, events, and supporting local businesses.

National Main Street Program
The National Main Street Center was created in 1978 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. There are over 1500 Main Street cities across the United States.

Kansas Main Street Inc.
The Kansas Main Street program uses a common-sense approach to tackle the complex issues of revitalizing a community’s central business district. Kansas Main Street is a self-help program that uses a four-point approach. Organization, Promotion, Design and Economic Restructuring.

The Four-Point Approach
Economic Restructuring: Strengthening the existing assets of the community while diversifying its economic base, by helping existing businesses and recruiting new ones.

Design: Anything visual; enhancing the quality of downtown through attention to all elements of the physical environment.

Promotion: Selling the image and promise of Main Street to all prospects by marketing the district’s unique characteristics to shoppers, investors and visitors.

Organization: Getting everyone working toward the same goal; the work of building consensus and cooperation among groups that have an important stake in the community.
