Kansas Main Street Inc. The Kansas Main Street program uses a common-sense approach to tackle the complex issues of revitalizing a community’s central business district. Kansas Main Street is a self-help program that uses a four-point approach. Organization, Promotion, Design and Economic Restructuring.
The Four-Point Approach Economic Restructuring: Strengthening the existing assets of the community while diversifying its economic base, by helping existing businesses and recruiting new ones.
Design: Anything visual; enhancing the quality of downtown through attention to all elements of the physical environment.
Promotion: Selling the image and promise of Main Street to all prospects by marketing the district’s unique characteristics to shoppers, investors and visitors.
Organization: Getting everyone working toward the same goal; the work of building consensus and cooperation among groups that have an important stake in the community.
